These two precious souls were picked up by a visitor to the Virginia Grove Park in Morning Sun. The black lab mix, "Romeo," came in very emaciated. The boxer/pit mix, "Juliet," is skinny, although not as skinny as her lab friend is. Both the finder and Louisa County deputies believe the dogs had been dumped as they were in a remote area and have obviously been without food for a while.... no dogs have been reported missing in the area. Both dogs are doing well and are gaining weight daily.

These two dogs are just the sweetest. They are loving, they both know basic commands (sit, shake, etc), they appear to be kennel trained & just need a forever family to love them and take care of them for the rest of their lives. Both are heartworm negative. Although we would LOVE to see them get adopted together, we will split them up if need be. The important thing is that we find WONDERFUL homes for them so they can be loved & give love. They have been through enough bad times.

Remember: The Des Moines County Humane Society is open 3-6pm Tues-Fri and from 1-5pm on the weekends. We will take applications for these dogs until a suitable home is found.
